Could you save money on your water bill?

With the cost of living rising, it’s as important as ever to save money where we can. Did you know there are a few simple ways that lots of people can reduce their water bill?

Are you in one of these groups, and paying more than £421 per year for water?

  • Low income
  • In receipt of means-tested benefits
  • Have 3 or more children
  • Need to use extra water because of a medical condition

If so, you might be able to reduce your bill through Yorkshire Water’s WaterSure or WaterSupport Scheme. This effectively caps your annual bill at £421.

Are you billed at a fixed amount, and have more bedrooms in your property than people?

You might find that switching to a meter works out cheaper. For an estimate of what your water bill would be if you switch to a mater, use the online Water Meter Calculator at: www.ccwater.org.uk/watermetercalculator/
(Note: If you’re renting, consult your tenancy agreement / landlord before getting a water meter installed, to make sure it’s allowed etc).

Do you have a water meter, and have a single-flush toilet or a tap-operated shower?

If you have either of these:

  • A single-flush toilet (where there’s only one button, or a standard one-way lever, to flush the loo; rather than two)
  • A shower that isn’t an electric, digital or power shower

Then you can order a FREE Save Water pack from Yorkshire Water. This contains some hands gadgets that are easy to fit to your loo / shower which reduce their water consumption – thus reducing your bill. Order online at: www.savewatersavemoney.co.uk/yorkshire/free-water-saving-products
