Are you in control of your finances?

Now, more than ever, it’s crucial to be in control of our finances.

With the cost of living increasing, more and more people may find themselves in situations where the
way they usually manage their money needs to change and adapt to their circumstances.

What can I do?

There are lots of ways we can look to decrease our spending, manage our bills and increase what we
have coming in:

● Look at what reductions can be made to our bills and shop around for better deals – TV
packages, mobile phones, broadband, groceries and insurances for example.
● Negotiate and communicate with creditors.
● Do a benefits and grants check to ensure we’re receiving everything we’re entitled to.
● Create a budget.
● Contact our local council to check what further support is being offered.
● Look at alternative employment options that may increase our income.

Emergency and one-off support

There are various options and schemes available for emergency or one-off support. Including:

● Grants provided by local and national charity organisations.
● Supermarket and fuel vouchers.
● Food banks.
● Grants and schemes available through the local council – Discretionary Housing Fund and York Financial Assistance Scheme.
